Girls' and Women's Football

Southampton FC Girls & Women’s programme comprises the FA Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) to provides additional high-level coaching and training for selected players still competing within their grass roots club (U10-U14), as well as the FA & Club supported Pro Game Academy (U14-U21).

These programmes then feed players into our well-established Women’s first team. This enables talented female players to develop within the club’s environment with the aim of turning Potential into Excellence on and off the Pitch.

Our Women's First Team currently compete in Tier 2 of the women's game in England - the Barclays Women's Championship - and are led by the Head of Girls' and Women's Football, Marieanne Spacey-Cale.

The PGA provides a high-quality training environment to ensure players coming out of the pathway are ready to compete at the highest levels of the domestic and international game.

The pathway intends to identify and develop the very best talent in England, while also making the game more diverse, accessible and inclusive, with Saints being awarded a Category 1 license by the FA ahead of the 2023/24 season.
