Southampton FC Women’s defender Laura Rafferty has secured her spot in Northern Ireland’s final 23-player squad for the upcoming Women’s EURO 2022.

Rafferty, who recently joined up with Kenny Shiel’s squad for a pre-tournament friendly against Belgium at the end of June, will now step out at St Mary’s against England, Norway and Austria in the group stage of the tournament.

The Saints stalwart missed out on EURO qualifying back in August 2019 due to injury, returning to the squad for the play-off game against Ukraine, before dropping out of the selection for World Cup qualifying games against England and Austria.

With 31 caps to her name so far, Rafferty will be keen to win a few more in front of St Mary’s crowds filled with plenty of Saints support.

Northern Ireland kick off their Women’s EURO 2022 finals against Norway on Thursday 7th July, followed by Austria on Monday 11th July, before facing off against hosts England on Friday 15th July in front of a sold out St Mary’s.
