After handing Lyanco his Saints debut against Sheffield United, Ralph Hasenhüttl confirmed the Brazilian will need to continue adapting to the demands of English football.

The summer signing played 74 minutes of the dramatic Carabao Cup encounter with the Blades, being replaced by Jan Bednarek after receiving a first-half yellow card.

Commenting on the defender's first outing, Hasenhüttl said:

"It was the perfect first game for him to learn how tough it is here, that it is very physically demanding with high intensity with how we play here.

"He has to adapt but as I always say, it takes a little bit of time but we will work with him."
