James Ward-Prowse reaches out to Senior Saints participants

Southampton’s first team captain and Saints Foundation Ambassador James Ward-Prowse spoke with two Senior Saints participants to find out how the Foundation’s projects have supported them during the second lockdown.

Ann, 84, and her husband Trevor, 79, joined Saints Foundation in 2019, after enrolling on their Balance and Strength exercise classes to combat ongoing health issues.

Since the sessions were postponed due to government guidelines, Trevor and Ann have been able to stay active through online exercise classes. They’ve also been receiving regular check-in phone calls from Foundation staff, ensuring they stay connected with the wider community.

Along came Saints Foundation... and that was just a new life.

Saints Foundation organised for them to join Ward-Prowse for a virtual chat to discuss the impact of lockdown and how the charity’s support has made a big difference to their lives. You can watch the video below:

“The exercises were brilliant,” Ann told James on the video call, “and mentally, for me especially, I need company. I had more company as well, so I’ve got a lot to thank them for.”

Ward-Prowse praised the work that Saints Foundation are carrying out during lockdown: “It’s a credit to them that even during tough times, they’re still able to put things on for people to feel connected. I think that speaks volumes about the type of club we are.”

With the country back in lockdown, Saints Foundation has launched a new wave of activity alongside the club, focusing on helping people stay connected during these difficult times. You can access invaluable online resources to stay active and healthy during lockdown by visiting the Saints As One hub.
