Jan Bednarek helped Poland ease to a comfortable 3-0 victory over 10-man Bosnia and Herzegovina in Wroclaw, propelling the hosts to the top of their Nations League group.

The Bosnians were faced with an uphill task from the moment Anel Ahmedhodžić was sent off in the 15th minute, and were duly punished by the ruthless Robert Lewandowski, who struck either side of half time.

Torino midfielder Karol Linetty was also on target, as a draw between Italy and the Netherlands saw the Poles take top spot with two games to play.

Meanwhile, Jannik Vestergaard was a 73rd-minute substitute for Denmark, who shocked England with a 1-0 win at Wembley courtesy of Christian Eriksen’s first-half penalty.

The Three Lions played for an hour with 10 men after Harry Maguire was dismissed for two bookable offences, while Reece James also saw red after the full-time whistle.

Gareth Southgate opted not to use Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse off the bench, but opposite number Kasper Hjulmand did introduce Vestergaard to help protect the lead, as the defender joined Bednarek in helping their respective countries keep a clean sheet.

Elsewhere, Shane Long was an unused substitute as Republic of Ireland fell to a 1-0 defeat in Finland.
