Southampton FC Women have the chance to draw level on points with fellow title challengers AFC Bournemouth today, with the Cherries having occupied the league's pole position for most of the season.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale's side have played two games less, though, owing to their involvement in various cup competitions, but a victory today would put both sides on an equal footing.

Saints' Head Coach was quick to play down the significance of today's game in isolation, but knows that a win would go a long way towards this year's hopes of promotion.

"We're focussed and we're determined, as we have been for every game this season," she began.

"It's easy to get carried away with single games. One game doesn't define our season, but there's no getting away from the fact that this one is particularly important.

"In terms of who sits top of the table, this is big, but there's plenty of football still to play.

"We're excited for the fixture, we want to give a good account of ourselves and of course we want to win. I want to see a performance that everyone is proud of.

"It's good to have that healthy competition, it continues to drive us forward and we want to be challenged. That's how, as a team, you develop."
