Saints youngster Callum Slattery could be in action for England tonight, as the Young Lions get set to begin this summer’s Toulon Tournament.

The 17-year-old midfielder will hope to get on the pitch in Aubagne this evening (6pm BST), as head coach Neil Dewsnip’s side – which features a mixture of age groups from under-18s to under-20s – get their campaign under way, against Angola.

Slattery was brought into the 18-man squad last week, in place of Ipswich Town’s Andre Dozzell, who was withdrawn for duty with the Under-19s.

After tonight’s fixture, England will then face two more group stage games, against Cuba, on Thursday, and Japan, next Sunday, as they look to progress to the semi-finals.

Slattery will also be hoping to follow in the footsteps of first-team players James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond, Jack Stephens and Matt Targett, who won the Toulon Tournament last summer, when the Under-21s competed in it.
