Cédric says he is expecting a typically tough test from West Bromwich Albion when they visit St Mary’s tomorrow.
Saints sit one place and one point above their visitors, who have lost their last two games on the road against Arsenal and Chelsea respectively, both by one-goal margins.
And the Portuguese international defender feels they will be well equipped for Tony Pulis’ side, having prevailed last season by a 3-0 scoreline.
“They have a good team and all the teams in the Premier League are very competitive,” said Cédric.
“They are very good defensively and they can be very dangerous from free-kicks and set-pieces so we will need to be ready.
Reflecting on last season's meeting, he added: “I think we played five at the back in that game. We had a good start in the game but West Brom is always tough.
“Sometimes they don’t want as much of the ball, but they are always organised and strong defensively.
“Like I said, the Premier League is always very tough and they are very good in set-pieces as well so we need to be prepared.
“Last year I think we were ready for the game and we knew what we were doing on the pitch if we were different tactically.
“It was good that we win in our home and normally we are very strong there.”
