Maya Yoshida has been named in the Japan squad for their 2018 FIFA World Cup/2019 Asian Cup qualifier with Syria.
Yoshida and his international teammates will also take on Iran in a friendly later this month.
Vahid Halilhodzic’s men face Syria in their fourth Group E qualifier on Thursday 8th October at 2pm BST.
Syria currently sit top of the qualifying group with nine points from their opening three games, while Yoshida’s Japan are second with seven points from their three matches so far.
A friendly with Iran will then take place at the Azadi Stadium on Tuesday 13th October, with the game getting under way at 2.30pm BST.
Yoshida will return to the South Coast following the conclusion of the game against Iran.
