Jaïdi previews Under-21s' St George's Park visit

Under-21s assistant manager Radhi Jaïdi is looking forward to the next stage of their pre-season preparation as they spend the next week at St George’s Park.

Saints’ youngsters will come up against the Nike Academy on Monday before an encounter with Derby on Friday at England’s official training complex.

Jaïdi, who oversaw Saints’ 0-0 draw with AFC Bournemouth on Thursday evening, is hoping he and Martin Hunter can work closely with their group of players to get them ready for the season ahead.

The former Saints defender said: “It will be a good opportunity to work individually and collectively with the team.

“We will look to develop their knowledge of football and bring them to the right level of fitness.”

He also hailed the harmony within the squad and he is interested to see how the new players will cope in a different setting.

“There are some first year scholars, they are good positive boys, it is a new environment, and challenge for them, and with the big season ahead we will see how they respond,” added Jaïdi.
