Kelvin's 300: Tributes from family and friends

By SFC Media time Fri 29 May Club

When word spread of Kelvin’s achievement, a host of former players, and family members too, were quick to get in touch to pass on their messages of congratulations for the club captain.

Davis is credited by a number of ex-colleagues as an ambassador for the dressing room and the club as whole, while the landmark figure of appearances was also heralded as a mantle to treasure.

In fact, there were so many messages for SKD (Super Kelvin Davis), that we’ve split them into two parts. Part one was published yesterday, and now here’s a host more, including tributes from those closer to home:

Pictured along with all the family!

We are so proud of what you have achieved.

Well done, son. We know how much this football club means to you.

- Mum and Dad

He was a leader to many young players coming through at a big club at a young age...he led by example in training every day. I will never forget his performance away at Leeds in the Championship - the best goalkeeping performance I have seen and been a part of. Great credit to reach so many games at a great club!!

- Jason Puncheon

Super Kelvin Davis!!! I had five incredible years with Saints and Kelv had as bigger influence on me as much as anyone. His personality and professionalism stood out straightaway, but he also knew how to let his hair down on the right occasion, which is probably why we became so close!!

He’s a top keeper, and a top bloke, and I’m proud to say that I played alongside him for as long as I did.

300 games is a great achievement and I wish him and Saints even more success in the future. Lambo

- Rickie Lambert

Kelvin Davis someone that I will always look up to, literally and he’s the best keeper that I’ve had the pleasure of playing with. He was the number one joker around the dressing room, but when it was time to work there was no-one more professional than Kelvin.

Kelv, I hope you have a great day! I’m proud to have played with you, and even more proud to have you as a best friend.

- Lee Holmes

Congratulations to Kelvin on his 300th appearance. A fantastic achievement. He is one of the best professionals I have worked with, has always been so dedicated and driven to success which has influenced my career. The life and soul of the dressing room and a pleasure to play alongside.

One of my best memories will always be lifting the trophy with him at Wembley. Top man.

- Dean Hammond

Well done Super! Can’t believe you are still going. Actually, I can with the amount of extra work you always put in. Great player and even better person, especially behind closed doors!

I’ll never forget Leeds away in the season we went up. Corky

- Jack Cork

Well, Kel since you've been 17 you've always had goals and something to work towards, but if someone told you when we arrived in Southampton, that you'd reach the big 300, then I think you'd have found it hard to believe. You did it, and myself, Emelia, Sonnie & Buddy (he doesn't know it yet but he will when he's older) are ridiculously proud of you.

You deserve every little bit of credit you are given for this achievement. I'm now intrigued to hear your next milestone......more games I expect!

Love and congratulations…

- Kelly, Emelia, Sonnie & Buddy (wife and children)
