James Ward-Prowse and Filip Djuričić stopped to talk to the media following Southampton's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday.

Here's what the duo had to say following the defeat:

James Ward-Prowse on feeling slightly hard done by…

“A little bit. I’ve spoke to the people who’ve seen the game. They said it was a definite penalty. I haven’t seen the other incidents but I think we should have had the penalty and I think if we score it’s a totally different game.

“It was a quality goal and we’re a bit disappointed. We should have done something to prevent it. Fair play to him, he struck a very good shot and it took the flow out of the game for us.

“I think it’s just a technical fault in our game at the minute. It’s something we need to work on. We as a group of players and coaching staff are aware of that and we have been practicing during the week.

“I think we see every opportunity as a missed opportunity if we don’t win because we do believe we can beat anyone. We’re a very ambitious group of players and we’re disappointed with the result.”

Filip Djuričić on being involved in the controversial moments…

“I think the second one was a clear penalty. The first one, ok, I fell down because I felt the contact. The referee in that case could or not whistle.

“But the second one I think was a clear one and it could decide the game on a different way, but we could also play a little bit better in the offensive line, and be more direct.

“It’s not nice to lose but I think we were the better team all game. They didn’t have many chances. I cannot remember one at all other than the goals.

“They scored two goals – the first fantastic. We are going for the next game, we are trying to reach our next win, and that’s most important.

“It was a pity that we didn’t have a better result but next game if we win, we are still in the race and everything is in order. We are still there and we are fifth at the moment.

“Everything is one point and two points in front is Arsenal. We didn’t have luck but in football you need to deserve luck, so I hope next game shall be better.”
