Isgrove helps Posh win JPT

Lloyd Isgrove came off the bench to help loan club Peterborough United win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley earlier today.

The winger joined Posh on a temporary basis earlier this month, with today's appearance being his third since moving to London Road.

The Sky Bet League 1 side were already 3-1 up against fourth-tier Chesterfield when Isgrove entered the fray, replacing Josh McQuoid with 83 minutes on the clock.

McQuoid had put Peterborough ahead after just seven minutes, before Shaun Brisley doubled their advantage just before half-time.

Eoin Doyle pulled a goal back for the Spireites on 53 minutes before Posh were reduced to ten men when Joe Newell was sent off.

But Britt Assombalonga's 78th-minute penalty calmed the nerves before Isgrove came on for his third substitute appearance for his loan side.

And the 21-year-old Saint put in an exciting cameo performance, going close to setting up a goal almost immediately, as well as having a shot saved in injury time.

With victory secured, Isgrove got his hands on the same trophy that Southampton lifted four years and two days ago, when we beat Carlisle United in the 2010 final.

Peterborough's attentions will now turn to booking a return visit to Wembley as they chase a League 1 play-off berth – Isgrove's side sit sixth in the table with eight games remaining.
