By SFC Media time Thu 28 Mar Club

Danny Butterfield has joined npower Championship side Bolton Wanderers on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

The defender joins up with his former Crystal Palace teammate Dougie Freedman, who is now manager at the Reebok Stadium.

Butterfield has found opportunities limited at St Mary's this season, and has made his only two appearances of the campaign in Capital One Cup games against Stevenage and Leeds.

The 33-year-old will now look to help the Trotters push for a play-off place with eight games left of the Championship season before returning to Southampton on 4th May.
