Match Report
Lots to digest after that game at Stamford Bridge! Read it all back in our MATCH REPORT HERE.
17.57That moment
What a game we have had here. Played at over 100 mph with both sides not giving in and keeping to playing at pace. Vestergaard with the moment that will live long in the memory.
Full-time: Chelsea 3-3 Saints
Wow. Just wow. Saints have pulled it back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to gain a point from Stamford Bridge. Ings, Adams and Vestergaard with the goals that give Saints a deserved point.
Walcott runs at the defence!
He's running and shoots! wide. Oh that would have been a fantasy ending there.
CORNER TO SAINTS!
We aren't stopping there! Saints win a corner and it is whipped in by Ward-Prowse, cleared. Saints on the front foot here.
THE BIG DANE!!!!
YES!!! IT'S THEO WALCOTT WITH THE SHOT AND IT IS HEADED IN BY VESTERGAARD!!
GOOOAL!!!
Jannik Vestergaard (+1’) | 3 – 3
Four minutes added on
Come on Saints! Just one more chance could be the difference. Vestergaard has gone up top for the final few minutes!
Final few minutes
Not long left here for Saints to get an equaliser. Chelsea keeping hold of the ball with the visitors unable to get it back.
Theo! Theo! Theo!
How have we rated this man this afternoon? The winger has brought a spark at different points in the game and has been lively in this second half.
INGS WITH A CHANCE!
It's Walcott again running at the Chelsea defence and he lays it to Ings who turns and shoots low but it is well saved down low. Saints creating more chances than their hosts here!
Adams again!
Walcott gets his legs going to run and play in Adams who lets the shot go but it rolls wide. Saints will be looking to hit Chelsea on the counter still at pace. Can we create that opening for the equaliser?
Havertz heads over
Corner comes in and Bednarek gets stuck with two Chelsea players and Havertz rises highest to head but it's safely over.
Ralph urging his players on
The game has slowed down since that Havertz goal made it 3-2. The game was being played at such a pace that it was going to slow down at some point and Chelsea will be worrying about letting the lead slip once again.
Romeu with the volley!
Not the same outcome as last time out against West Brom sadly. Saints win a corner, it's cleared and Walcott chips it back in, it's cleared as far as Romeu who hits it on the volley but it's high over the bar.
Saints have to battle back again
The faces show how much that goal meant. Lots of hard work went in to turning the game around and Chelsea went back ahead moments later.
Adams gets first of the season
Che Adams has got that important first goal of the season! He has deserved it judging by his performances and chances so far this season.
Havertz puts Chelsea back in front
The two sides were level for under a minute. Timo Werner gets into the area and is able to pass it to Kai Havertz who just taps in easily. So frustrating for Saints who deserved to be level and are now back behind.
GOAL
Kai Havertz (58’) | 3 – 2

HE'S DONE IT!!!
Adams has his first goal of the season!!! Saints are level!!!
GOOOAL!!!
Ché Adams (56’) | 2 – 2
INGS!
A snap shot from the striker and it goes narrowly wide! Saints moved the ball nicely around the edge of the box and it came to Ings who took a quick shot but it missed the target. Much better from Saints here...
Saints the better side in the early going
Chelsea are currently chasing possession here at Stamford Bridge as they look to gain control back of the game as they did in the opening 30 minutes or so.
Saints with a free-kick...
James Ward-Prowse is over a free kick which he whips in and it hits the back of someone and loops into the air for Kepa to safely collect.
Saints on the front foot
Ryan Bertrand, facing his former club, tries to play in Danny Ings behind the full back and into the area but the striker can't get the ball under control and it's a goal kick.
Second half underway!
Can Saints get an equaliser? That Danny Ings goal just before half-time has given them a chance here of leaving Stamford Bridge with something.
How will Saints approach the second half?
It's been a mixed first half with the majority going in favour of Chelsea but those final five minutes will have given Ralph Hasenhuttl some more hope for the next 45.
Half-Time: Chelsea 2-1 Saints
Danny Ings has given Saints a lifeline just before half-time here at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea had been dominant with Timo Werner scoring twice and moving the ball well but in the final five minutes of the half, Saints keep possession and create an opening to reduce the deficit to one.
Ings gets Saints back into the game
Saints needed something to happen and Danny Ings has provided the goal before half-time. A good spell of possession here for Saints who for the first time in the half are able to impose themselves a little on the home side.
Who else!?
Ingsy has Saints back in the game! Saints keep possession for a few minutes inside the Chelsea half and when the chance arrives, Ings takes it.
GOOOAL!!!
Danny Ings (42’) | 2 – 1
Werner comes close to his hat-trick
Timo Werner gets space to run at the Saints goal but when he is about 12 yards out, unleashes a shot but it's high over the bar.
That early Adams chance
Che Adams is looking for his first goal of the season and could have put Saints ahead inside the opening ten minutes. The effort though was too straight and Kepa got down low to prevent Saints scoring the opener. Now they trail 2-0 here.
McCarthy save!
Corner comes in and Kurt Zouma is free in the area to flick a header towards goal but McCarthy can push it away safely.
Werner makes it two
A long ball from Jorginho inside his own half finds Timo Werner on the run. The German shrugs off Jan Bednarek, chips it over the on rushing Alex McCarthy and then heads it in from close range. A tough opening 30 minutes here for Saints.
GOAL
Timo Werner (28’) | 2 – 0

McCarthy save!
Mason Mount takes on the Saints defence and lays off to his American team-mate Christian Pulisic and his shot is blocked low by McCarthy and the ball is scrambled away.
Playing at pace
It's all about moving the ball quickly here at Stamford Bridge as both sides look to play at speed when in possession. Saints, being the away side, haven't seen lots of the ball but you can see the plan.
Walker-Peters wins the freekick
Ben Chilwell can't stop his fellow full back and gives Saints a freekick near the touchline. Ward-Prowse whips it in and is cleared to Redmond who shoots! but it's blocked as Saints keep possession.
Werner gets his first Premier League goal
The opening goal did look more likely to go to the home side. Timo Werner has the ball inside the area and the Saints defence can't get near the German who then shoots low past McCarthy.
GOAL
Timo Werner (15’) | 1 – 0

The ball is in the net!
Chilwell crosses in to Werner who heads it in past McCarthy but the flag is raised pretty quickly and it stays 0-0.
Opening 10 minutes have passed
Chelsea have been in control of possession here at the Bridge with the Blues passing at pace when they get into the Saints half.
ADAMS WITH THE CHANCE!
Walcott drifts inside and finds Che Adams but his shot is too straight and Kepa is able to save the effort. Great opening in the early going here for Saints.
Werner with an opening
Chelsea with some nice build-up play as Mason Mount finds Werner but his shot is dragged across the penalty area for a goal-kick.
Pulisic heads over...
Christian Pulisic finds space in between the centre backs but his header is high over the bar.
WHAT A DOUBLE SAVE!
Alex McCarthy pulls off a great double stop with Ben Chilwell having space to get an effort away with the follow up coming quickly back to the Saints stopper but he is able to push it away.
We're underway!
James Ward-Prowse kicks us off instead of the missing Stuart Armstrong. Saints gain a throw-in inside the Chelsea half but lose possession.
Saints to kick us off...
Saints will be playing from left to right in this first half in the traditional setup for games at Stamford Bridge. Therefore they will be attacking where the away fans would have been in the second half.
